Korean War (jun 25, 1950 – jul 27, 1953)

Description:

The Korean War began in 1950 with the two sides being North Korea (The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) versus South Korea (The Republic of Korea). The war hit the global stage as a competition between Communism and Capitalism. The USSR and the Republic of China sided with North Korea while the U.S. and the rest of the United nations sided with South Korea. The war came to an end in 1953 after roughly 2.5 million people had been killed. The two states are still in a hostile divide, but the fighting has never resumed. Although there was certainly a Korean presence at the start of the war; the war was mostly started because of the preexisting presence of the USSR and the USA.
