- Seized power by force: opponents claimed they had no right to rule Russia

WHITES:
- various groups made up of the Bolshevik's opponents
- led by former tsarist officers
- uncoordinated attacks due to lack of common goal except for hatred of the bolsheviks
GREENS:
- peasant army fighting for independence from control of anybody.
