Drafts of the Periodic Table by Meyer (jan 1, 1864 – dec 31, 1870)
Description:
Over the course of 6 years, Julius Lothar Meyer (1830-1895) would create several drafts of the periodic table organised by their valency.
His first table would have only 28 elements but in 1868, he would incorporate the transition metals as well. The 1868 table would list atomic weight with the valency organised in vertical lines, similar to Mendeleev's table.
Meyer's greatest contribution was being the first person to recognise the periodic trends in element properties. In the graph below, it shows his recognition of atomic volume against atomic weight.
