Sugar Act, Stamp Act, Navigation Acts, Townshend acts (jan 1, 1651 – jan 1, 1767)
Description:
Sugar Act (1764)--> tax on sugar
Stamp Act (1765)-->(1765) Widely unpopular tax on an array of paper goods, repealed in 1766 after mass protests erupted across the colonies. Colonists developed the principle of "no taxation without representation" that questioned Parliament's authority over the colonies and laid the foundation for future revolutionary claims.
Navigation Acts (1651)-->Protectionist tariff for England that requires colonists to buy from them (1651-1673)
Townshend acts (1767)--> Tax on tea, lead, glass, etc
