Italy stays neutral at the start, not honouring its alliance w/ Germany and A-Hbut a wave of nationalism spreads across Italy w/ ppl demanding for Italy to join,
some of them wanted that irredenta (aimed against A-H)
others were futurist, wanting war for war's sake
the parliament was divided on the issue
the PSI stayed pacifist
