War between Jap and China, China wins,
Jap aims:
- creating and empire / dominating Asia
- taking China's resources
- securing Jap strategic position

Jap have an advantage in:
- tech
- organization / command
- industry
- navy & airforce

China has an advantage in:
- numbers
- size of territory,

War is characterized by brutality,
many millions dead,
waves of refugees,

Jap initial gains are enormous,
largely because Jiang Jieshi wanted to focus on beating the Communists (exchanging territory for time),
this didn't work,

over time Jap supply lines became overstretched and vulnerable to partisans (mostly Communists),

the war consumed extreme amounts of Jap resources to the point where their economy was in crisis and their armies could no longer push forward after 1938
