Indian Rebellion of 1857 (dec 27, 1856 – nov 1, 1858)
Description:
The British East Indian Company conquered India from the weakened Mughal Empire. Indian nationalist launched a massive country-wide rebellion against British control, high taxes, and starvation due to British policies. The British squashed the rebellion, but control switched from the company to the British queen.
It is also called the Sepoy Mutiny.
