new soviet man: the ideal soviet citizen whos proud of being part of the mordern industrial society n willing to serve selflessly n enthuly
stankhanoviets named aft alexey stakhanov. state uphold achievements of ordinary ppl (actually liked to state). at first spurred more ppl to exceed targets but died down aft. pressure to perform n opression faced by those who failed had a -ve psychological impact. many grew pessimistic n disgruntled with 5 yr plans.
