Taiping Civil War/ Rebellion/ Revolution (jan 5, 1850 – dec 14, 1853)
Description:
Chinese Civil War (20-30 Million killed) over nationalistic, ethnic, cultural, economic and political issues. A rebel leader adopted Christianity (an outside religion),and battled against the traditionalist Qing emperor. This further weakened the Chinese state, allowing for further foreign influence.
It is also called the "Taiping Rebellion"
