War of 1812 (jun 12, 1812 – feb 18, 1815)
Description:
It's debated what the reason for the war was. One cause could have been the British impressed soldiers which violated maritime rights. Another could have been American's anglophobia. Another reason for the war was the desire for land in Canada. War Hawks were those who were pushing for war, the most famous of which being Henry Clay. Northern states which traded more didn't want to go to war, while the South that relied on agriculture did want the war.
Its importance was that it proved the US would exist.
