Cyrus the Great lead a revolt on the Medes, won and became the ruler of Persia beginning the Persian empire. Cyrus the great conquered Southwest Asia, Asia Minor, Mesopotamia, and parts of central Asia. He ruled the largest empire in the world at that time.
