Robespierre (jan 1, 1758 – jan 1, 1794)

Description:

Maximilien Robespierre was a French lawyer and delegate who led the Jacobin club (as part of the Mountain) in the later stages of the French Revolution and the Committee of Public Safety. He was radically outspoken for individual rights and was known for being instrumental in establishing the Reign of Terror. He had near-dictatorial control of France and sent possible conspirators to death. He gained initial support but was later executed during the Thermidorian Reaction.
