The divide between Hutu and Tutsis increases as political parties strengthen. The Parmehutu (Party for the Emancipation of the Hutu People) is pitted against the monarchist and Tutsi-led UNAR (National Rwandese Union).
- Political violence as decreased since the genocide, but there is always going to be a political dispute between people.
Parmehutu was an important part of the Hutu revolution and helped lead Rwandan becoming an independent state. The Parmehutu believed that marojitiy of ethnicity should rule over Rwanda. As well as Hutus were more superior than the Tutsis.
UNAR was the leading monarchist group during the divide between the Hutus and Tutsis in 1959, wanted independence and wanted a Tutsi constitutional monarchy.
