Who: The Korean War was fought between North Korea ( Kim Il-Sung's ) and South Korea ( Chung II-kwon ) . Chinese Communists, US, UN and Canada
What: The Korean War began when the North Korean Communist army crossed the 38th Parallel and invaded non-Communist South Korea. As Kim Il-Sung's North Korean army, armed with Soviet tanks, quickly overran South Korea.

When: Jun 25 1950 to Jul 27 1953
Why: North Korea aimed to overturn control of South Korea and therefore unify Korea under the communist North Korean regime.
