Putney Debates (oct 1, 1647 – nov 29, 1647)
Description:
army met at putney church to discuss how the country should be governed
whilst nothing came of it as cromwell and ireton reasserted control, the fact that truly common people were having a say in the future was remarkably radical and revolutionary.
cromwell may have kept the army at bay if the king had not escaped on 11th november 1647 from hampton court.
