Politicization of the New Model Army (sep 21, 1646 – mar 11, 1647)
Description:
- parliament wanted to disband the new model army without paying them the £3 million they were owed
- parliament didn't pass the indemnity act and they had no plans to
- before the war they only gave the king £1 million per year, but owed the army three times this amount, therefore taxes would need to be raised
- the country was financially drained and the army would need to get involved in politics to get what they wanted
