Greek Hellenistic Age (jan 1, 323 BC – jan 1, 31 BC)

Description:

As a result of the conquests of Alexander the Great, Greek culture was spread across the whole region he had conquered. While his empire didn't last long, Hellenistic culture far outlasted it. The period of Greek influence on cultures across the Mediterranean and Near East is called the Greek Hellenistic Age. Greek culture influenced architecture, literature, science, and culture and spread concepts such as the symposium, Greek representation of the human figure, and many scholars argue the concept of democracy (although some evidence shows that it can be traced back to the Persians). Notably, there was a sense of superiority of Greek culture which often accompanied these ideas, particularly among the Ptolemies and to a lesser extent the Romans.
