Berlin Blockade and Airlift (jun 24, 1948 – may 12, 1949)
Description:
The US, Soviet Union, and Germany were mainly involved in the Berlin Blockade and Airlift.
The US and allies disputed with the USSR over Germany. The USSR wanted to keep Germany weak and divided while the US and allies wanted it to become a whole nation. in 1948, France, Britain, and the US withdrew their occupation of Germany and allowed them to join together, and the Soviet Union responded by holding West Berlin hostage.
It ended after the US and British had flown food and supplies into West Berlin for 11 months, where the USSR finally admitted defeat and lifted the blockade.
