-They were very decentralized, using the satrapy system, where the empire was divided into 20 provinces; each one was ruled by a satrap
-Their religion was Zoroastrianism; it was characterized by a long struggle between good and evil, with good eventually prevailing in the end. There were other minor gods, but it was mainly monotheistic.
