Description:
Religious rebirth movement in the 16th/17th centuries. Originally sparked to reform the Catholic Church and address issues that people saw, but resulted in the formation of Protestant Churches. Martin Luther wrote 95 Theses questioning Catholic Church teachings and the authority of the Pope and Catholic leaders. Introduced the idea of a personal relationship with God and resulted in the formation of many branches of Christianity.
