Basil Manly, Jr. (jan 1, 1825 – jan 1, 1892)
Description:
Manly was very impactful for Southern Baptists through the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He spent a long while pastoring Southern Baptist churches. He eventually was a professor at Southern writing the abstract of principles that became the guidelines for the doctrines of the seminary. He generally had a positive impact on Southern Baptist other than his strong support of the evil of slavery.
