Partitions of Poland (jan 1, 1772 – jan 1, 1795)
Description:
First partition of Poland (1772) - Poland did not have a strong monarchy and was very vulnerable and easy to invade. 30% of land taken and split between Russia, Prussia and Austria.
Second Partition (1793) - Russia and Prussia took more of Poland after intervening in military when Poland tried to establish a hereditary monarchy.
Third Partition (1795) - Poland tried a rebellion but it was completely obliterated by all three countries.
