There were six causes of imperialism, economical [European citizens wanted new economic opportunities in foreign lands. This included the creation of new markets and the discovery of new natural resources.] Exploratory [New plants and animals used for medicine and science.] Military [Colonies were good for military bases and for more people to fight in the wars] Nationalism, Ideology, and religion [all were based around the idea that one nation or religion was the best and everyone should be like them].
