Roosevelt's 'New Deal' policies and programmes are in use (jan 1, 1933 – jan 1, 1941)
Description:
Roosevelt's New Deal ensured that black and white received aid without discrimination.
The New Deal included a statement that 'no discrimination should be made by account of race, colour of creed'. By 1935, 30% of black families were on relief compared with 10% of whites.
This illustrated their greater poverty but also the fair application of the policy towards them.
