Under the influence of Cavour - Imports and exports almost quadrupled, industries flourished, and Trade treaties were negotiated with Britain, France, Austria, Portugal and Belgium. By 1859 Piedmont had 850 km of railway tracks, almost as much as the rest of Italy put together.Added to timeline:
