Description:
A meeting between European powers at vienna after the defeat of Napoleon to redivide Italy. exile, the European powers met at the Congress of Vienna. They redivided Italy; Piedmont, Savoy, and Genoa went to King Victor Emmanuel I; Lombardy and Venetia were joined together, under the rule of a viceroy controlled by Vienna; Tuscany, Modena, and Parma were returned to control of Austrian-appointed rulers; the Papal states were returned to the Pope, and Austrian forces were stationed there; King Ferdinand I was restored to the throne of both Naples and Sicily, theoretically independent but unable to make any major change without Austrian approval.
