The Jeffersonian Republic (jan 1, 1800 – jan 1, 1824)
Description:
The Second Great Awakening impacted American society by
reviving Protestant religious ideals and popularizing the belief that everyone, regardless of
social class, could achieve redemption through doing good deeds and encouraging others
to convert to Protestantism. These ideals led to the rise of reform movements in various
fields, such as education, prisons and asylums, abolition, and feminism.
