Copernicus was one of the main originators of heliocentric theory (sun is at the center of the universe). He published On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres, basically destroying the idea of crystal spheres, envisioning a much larger universe, and challenging the hierarchy of disciplines.Added to timeline:
