Enacted the Force Acts (dec 18, 1870 – jan 1, 1875)
Description:
Passed by Congress following a wave of Ku Klux Klan violence, the acts banned clan membership, prohibited the use of intimidation to prevent blacks from voting and gave the U.S. military the authority to enforce the acts. The North would agree with this as it ensures that more black votes are going in, and that they're not being oppressed by parties such as the KKK. This was a success in reconstruction, as black votes are now being counted more again.
