Freedmen's Bureau (mar 3, 1865 – jan 1, 1872)
Description:
The Freedman's Bureau was a government aid section that aided newly freed slaves in getting an education, clothing, housing, etc... This was a major step because it was the first time the government was taking responsibility for their actions. The North is happy with this as it aligns with their current views. This is a major step to Reconstruction as it is helping the freed slaves become people of society.
