was organized to protect the Republic from its internal enemies, those who "by conduct, contacts, words, or writings that showed them to be supporters of tyranny or enemies of liberty" these people were executed including the queen, initial revolutionaries, and peasants. 250,000 people were probably killed for this. 60% of those killed were peasants.Added to timeline:
