Description:

Russia allied with Poland and Denmark to challenge the power of Sweden.

In the Battle of Narva (1700) Charles XII of Sweden led 8,000 men against Russia's 40,000 but gained an alarming victory. After building up the army, Peter's military made a huge Russian victory against Sweden in Ukraine in the 1709 Battle of Poltava.

The war was a Russian victory. Itnded with the treaty of Nystadt in 1721.
