Description:
Ferdinand III continued to build state power after his predecessors. He centralized the government in the empire's German-speaking provinces, the core of the Habsburg holdings. He headed the so-called peace party at the Habsburg imperial court during the Thirty Years’ War and ended that war in 1648 with the Peace of Westphalia.Added to timeline:
