Description:
Under Agnello Partipazio and his two sons (810-836), Venice grew into its modern form, urbanizing the heart of the modern city. Venice expanded into the sea through the construction of bridges, canals, bulwarks, and stone buildings, as it become one with the sea. Giustiniano brought back the body of St. Mark the Evangelist form Alexandira and made him the city's patron saint.
