Description:
Republic's role as a maritime power in the region secures many favorable commercial treaties. Come to control a large portion of trade of Byzantine Empire, Tripoli (Libya), Antioch, Cilician Armenia, and Egypt. Become the dominant naval force in Western Mediterranean, while rivals Pisa and Amalfi on the decline. Genoa and Venice gain central position in Mediterranean slave trade. Leaves Venice as only major rival of Genoa in Mediterranean.
