Battle of Fredericksburg (dec 11, 1862 – dec 15, 1862)
Description:
Battle fought near Fredericksburg in which nearly 200,000 combatants fought which was the largest concentration of troops in any Civil War battle. Ambrose Burnside,commander of the Army of the Potomac, had ordered more than 120,000 troops to cross the Rappahannock River, where they made a two attacks on Robert E. Lee’s 80,000 Army of Northern Virginia. Union won the battle.
