King Charles I 1625- 1649 (beheaded) (jan 1, 1625 – apr 1, 1649)
Description:
King Charles, like his father, King James I, was a strong believer in divine right, and fought with Parliament for money, and to essentially let him do whatever he wants. He dissolves parliament, but needs it back so that he could get funding for a war, allowing Parliament to make him sign a bill of rights. Charles complies, but does not adhere to the rules and ignores it. In doing so, Charles additionally taxes the people heavily and creates many enemies. Because of these conflicts with Parliament, the English Civil War begins and ends with his execution
