Period 14: World War II: 1940 - 1945 (jan 1, 1940 – jun 1, 1945)

Description:

Enduring Understanding: World War II prompted the U.S Government to make decisions that were considered “war-time necessities.” These major decisions impacted the economic, social, and political identity of the United States.

IN WWI the US practiced isolationism because they didn't want to entangle themselves with Europe. If the US did so then they would suffer from war and loss. In fact, they only provided for EU countries but still had losses that took a toll on them because they were forced to join after pearl harbor. After WWI, they didn't want to involve themselves but communism threatened democracy and the US felt it was their duty to stop it. The US soon became opposite of isolatinoist and became more involved with world politics.
