Enduring Understanding: Although Puritans left England as a result of religious persecution, they in turn created a system of theocratic oppression in the New England colonies.
Prompt: Compare and contrast the New England Colonies, Middle Colonies, and Southern Colonies. Include their economic, political, and social similarities and differences.
Similarities: They are all under British rule and would ultimately unite for their freedom.
Differences: work types/weather/soil. The North was more focused on fishing selling, while the south had plantations and grew crops. Another difference is the religions: the North was mostly puritans (strict and law-abiding), while the south was more accepting of religion.
