Period 14: World War II (jan 1, 1940 – jan 1, 1945)

Description:

Enduring Understanding: World War II prompted the U.S Government to make decisions that were considered “war-time necessities.” These major decisions impacted the economic, social, and political identity of the United States.

WWI and WWII both involved America involving themselves in worldwide conflicts. In the beginning, America valued isolationism. They didn't want to involve themselves in this war, but once it began to impact the American people, they had to get involved. On the other hand, in WWII, America valued interventionism which is why they got into war after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. In both wars, America was trying to defend their values even though it was for different motives.
