The Intolerable Act started in 1774. The Intolerable Acts were meant to force the rebellious colonies back into place. This law was caused after the Boston Tea Party because Britain closed part of boston. The purpose of this law was to punish the people for dumping tea. The effect on the colonists was that they had to close boston.
