Impressionism (1860s-1890s) (jan 12, 1864 – jan 1, 1892)
Description:
Impressionism is characterized by attention to light and shadow, visible brushstrokes, and continues the tradition found in Realism of painting scenes from everyday life. Instead of painting a scene exactly, artists would paint the "impression" of a scene, leading to a more abstracted look with short brushstrokes and bright colors.
