Whiskey Rebellion (jan 11, 1794 – oct 4, 1794)
Description:
While resistance began in September 11th, 1791, the resistance really started to get violent in 1794 when Hamilton persuaded Congress to pass taxes, one of which was on whiskey. The farmers couldn't pay the tax so they took up to defend their "liberties". And Washington responded to this by mobilizing 15,000 federal troops and placing them under the command of Hamilton which caused the rebellion to fall apart with almost no bloodshed. This is significant as it was a complete change in how the government's inability to respond in Shay's rebellion
