Description:
Rosa Parks (1913—2005) was an African American woman who got arrested when she refused to give up her seat to a white man on a Montgomery, Alabama bus on 1 Dec 1955.
The Monday after her actions (Dec 5 1955), the local Black community organized the Montgomery Bus Boycott, led by a young Dr. Martin Luther King jr. The boycott ended after a year, when the US Supreme Court declared the Alabama and Montgomery laws that segregated buses were unconstitutional.
