Chinese Assist North Korea - Emily (nov 1, 1950 – jan 1, 1951)
Description:
Because of the Chinese Revolution in China, Chiang Kai-shek's Nationalist party had been overruled by the communist party and therefore saw the UN's invasion of N. Korea as a threat. When the Chinese had sent out notices to halt their invasion and had been ignored, Chinese forces crossed the border into Korea. The Chinese invasion had allowed UN forces to be pushed back across the 38th parallel and into the south. Due to defeat, General MacArthur had suggested to the president to extend the war into China, blocking Chinese ports and resources as well as using the atomic bomb as force. However, this request had not gone lightly for General MacArthur had been fired and had started to stir the pot. Many Americans had supported MacArthur, but President Truman decided to stay true to his policy of limited war and containment in Asia.
