Disease and William Harvey- Iatrophysics and Iatrochemistry (apr 1, 1578 – jun 3, 1657)
Description:
He believed that disease knowledge could be brought forward with the successes of the scientific revolution. He was a proponent of iatromechanism, a theory where the body can be understood by scientific processes such as physics and chemistry. Disease was viewed as a defect in the machinery that had to be fixed with scientific principles. This is an example of reductionism.
