Disease and Hippocrates (jan 1, 460 BC – jan 1, 370 BC)
Description:
He believed that disease and healing were naturally caused and not from supernatural influence. Due to his belief that disease is physical, he wrote the Hippocratic Oath in which he asks doctors to pledge that they will do their best to treat patients and behave ethically. Hippocrates also said that the sacred disease (epilepsy) resulted from natural occurrences and that it is truly no different from other diseases. Previously, epilepsy was treated for in temples and was believed to come from supernatural influences.
