Lupo II (dec 31, 931 – jan 1, 949)
Description:
In 942 he signed an agreement to regulate the borders with Marino, patriarch of Grado , thanks to the mediation of the Doge of Venice Pietro III Candiano . In 944 he joined Gottifredo, Marquis of Istria, to help the Carinthians against the Hungarians, but was severely defeated; Gottifredo was killed, while Lupo managed to escape.
In 948 or 949 Henry I , Duke of Bavaria and brother of Otto I of Saxony , king of Germany, freed Lombardy and Friuli from the Hungarians, occupied Aquileia and executed the patriarch, elevating the German Engelfredo in his place.
