Cuitlahuactzin dies from smallpox (oct 20, 1520 – nov 8, 1520)
Description:
the Xiuhpohualli de Tenochtitlán (Codex of 1576 or Aubin), records his death from smallpox in the date of Quecholli (between October 20 and November 8 of 1520), only eighty days after his instatement as tlatoani. In the codex, the body of the tlatoani can be observed as a bulto mortuorio in the Mesoamerican tradition, depicted surrounded by red pustules (called in this codex totomonaliztli).
