Tories learned Sweat Swamp" William Bethea hid money in his home. They went to his home, torturing to no avail thinking he would carry the secret to his grave, they left. William's son, John "Devil John" Bethea swore to take revenge on any Tory involved in the torture of his father, He found one who he delivered to the militia as a prisoner.
